Installing Caz Event Manager Pro
Caz Event Manager Pro is a WordPress event booking and management plugin for WooCommerce.
It turns WooCommerce products into bookable events and adds event-specific tools for capacity management, attendee management, QR-code tickets, check-in, waitlists, walk-in bookings and event-day staff management.
This guide explains how to install Caz Event Manager Pro and complete the initial configuration.
Requirements
Before installing Caz Event Manager Pro, make sure your website has:
- WordPress 5.5 or later
- WooCommerce
- PHP 7.4 or later
- Administrator access to WordPress
WooCommerce is required because Caz Event Manager uses WooCommerce products and the normal WooCommerce checkout process for event bookings.
Step 1 — Download Caz Event Manager Pro
Download the Caz Event Manager Pro ZIP package provided by Cazgrae.
Keep the ZIP file intact. WordPress can install the plugin directly from the ZIP package.
Do not extract the ZIP before uploading it through WordPress.
Step 2 — Install the Plugin
Log in to your WordPress administration area.
Go to:
Plugins → Add New
Select:
Upload Plugin
Choose the Caz Event Manager Pro ZIP file.
Click:
Install Now
WordPress will upload and install the plugin.
When installation is complete, select:
Activate Plugin
Caz Event Manager Pro is now installed.
Step 3 — Confirm WooCommerce Is Active
Caz Event Manager Pro requires WooCommerce.
If WooCommerce is not installed and active, install and activate WooCommerce before attempting to create events.
Caz Event Manager uses WooCommerce products as events, and customers complete bookings through the normal WooCommerce checkout process.
Step 4 — Check the Caz Events Menu
After activation, a new:
Caz Events
menu appears in the WordPress administration area.
This is the main administration area for Caz Event Manager Pro.
The menu provides access to the event-management functions and plugin settings.
Step 5 — Configure Caz Event Manager Settings
Go to:
Caz Events → Settings
The Settings area provides the main configuration options for the plugin.
General
The General settings allow you to configure the terminology used by Caz Event Manager.
The default terminology uses:
Workshop / Workshops
You can change this to terminology that better suits your business.
For example:
- Class / Classes
- Session / Sessions
- Event / Events
- Course / Courses
- Activity / Activities
The selected terminology is used throughout the plugin.
Public Bookings Page
Caz Event Manager automatically creates a public bookings page when the plugin is first activated.
The default page is:
Book a Workshop
The page contains the Caz Event Manager public event listing.
You can change which WordPress page is used from:
Caz Events → Settings → Public Bookings Page
The public page uses the:
[caz_events]
shortcode.
Email Settings
The Email settings control the sender information and event-related email templates used by Caz Event Manager.
You can configure:
- From name
- From email address
- Cancellation email
- Waitlist notification email
The available email placeholders include:
{first_name}{event_title}{event_date}{refund_amount}{booking_url}{site_name}
These placeholders allow event information to be inserted automatically into emails.
Waitlist
The Waitlist setting allows the site’s waitlist functionality to be enabled or disabled.
When enabled, customers can join the waitlist when an event reaches capacity.
Staff can then notify people on the waitlist when a place becomes available.
Check-In
The Check-In setting controls the scanner sound effect.
The sound can be switched on or off according to the needs of the event staff.
Step 6 — Create Your First Event
Caz Event Manager events are created using WooCommerce products.
Go to:
Products → Add New
or edit an existing WooCommerce product.
Enter the product information normally.
Then locate the:
Event Details
meta box.
Configure the event’s:
- Event date
- Start time
- End time
- Location
- Capacity
These settings define the event that will be managed by Caz Event Manager.
Step 7 — Add the Workshop Product Tag
For an event to appear on the public Caz Event Manager bookings page, the product needs to use the:
workshop
product tag.
Add the workshop tag to the WooCommerce event product.
The tag is used by the public event listing to identify products that should be displayed as Caz Event Manager events.
If you have changed the plugin’s event terminology, the public-facing label may use your configured terminology, but the product tag used by the current plugin remains:
workshop
Step 8 — Publish the Event
Once the Event Details and WooCommerce product information have been configured:
- Check the event date.
- Check the start and end times.
- Check the location.
- Check the capacity.
- Check the product price.
- Confirm the
workshopproduct tag is assigned. - Publish the product.
The event is now available through the public bookings page.
Step 9 — Check the Public Bookings Page
Open the public bookings page created by Caz Event Manager.
The default page is:
Book a Workshop
The page uses:
[caz_events]
to display upcoming events.
Events can be displayed with booking states including:
- Book
- Join Waitlist
- Sold Out
This gives customers a central location from which to browse available events.
Step 10 — Test the Booking Process
Before accepting real customer bookings, complete a test booking.
Check that:
- The event appears on the public bookings page.
- The event information is correct.
- The booking button works.
- The product can be added to the WooCommerce cart.
- WooCommerce checkout works correctly.
- The order is created.
- The booking appears in Caz Event Manager.
- The attendee appears in the event’s attendee list.
- Capacity is updated correctly.
Testing the complete booking process is recommended before promoting the event publicly.
Setting Up Staff Access
Caz Event Manager Pro provides a dedicated:
CEM Staff
WordPress role.
This role is intended for staff who need to manage events without having access to the complete WordPress administration area.
To create a staff account:
- Go to Users → Add New.
- Create the WordPress user account.
- Assign the CEM Staff role.
- Save the user.
CEM Staff users receive access to the Caz Event Manager functions required for event operations while being restricted from unrelated WordPress settings.
